The Access Programme
Welfare & Access

A diagnosis should not
be a privilege.

The Access Programme is our commitment to ensuring that the inability to pay is never a reason a patient goes without a histopathological diagnosis. Funded entirely from within the laboratory — no donations, no external grants.

Our
Founding
Principle
We built this laboratory to serve the clinicians who trust us. But we also recognise that behind every specimen is a patient — and some of those patients cannot afford what their clinician has ordered. The Access Programme exists for them.
What This Is — And Is Not
Not a charity programme
We do not solicit donations. We do not seek public recognition. We do not operate a separate fund. The Access Programme is simply a portion of our own revenue quietly set aside for patients who need it.
A standing institutional commitment
A defined percentage of tests — conducted at full quality, with the same pathologist panel and same turnaround — are provided at no cost to patients who qualify through their referring clinician.
Not open to direct patient applications
We are a B2B facility. Patients do not refer themselves to us. Access must come through a clinician who is part of our network — a safeguard that maintains both dignity and integrity.
Clinician-vouched access
The clinician who refers the case flags it as an Access Programme case. Their word is sufficient. We do not require means-testing documentation or proof of income from the patient.
Process

How the programme
works in practice

1
Clinician identifies the need
The referring physician, surgeon, or specialist determines that their patient cannot afford the cost of the required test. This determination rests entirely with the clinician — we do not question it.
2
Referral is flagged as Access Programme
When submitting the specimen or referral, the clinician indicates it as an Access Programme case. This can be done verbally, in writing, or via the referral form — whichever is standard practice for that clinician's relationship with us.
3
Case is processed — no distinction, no delay
The specimen enters our standard workflow without differentiation. Same pathologist panel. Same turnaround commitment. Same report format. The patient receives the same standard of care as any other referred case.
4
Report delivered to the clinician
Results are returned to the referring clinician through the usual channel. No separate communication to the patient. No record that distinguishes this case from any other in our system, except internally for programme tracking.
Eligibility

Who this programme
is designed for

Patients who qualify
Patients assessed by their clinician as unable to afford the cost of required histopathological testing
Patients referred through a clinician who is part of our existing referral network
Cases where the test is clinically necessary — not elective or administrative
Patients of any background, with no restriction on diagnosis type or organ system
How access is granted
Access is granted exclusively through a referring clinician — not through direct patient application
Clinicians attached to or working with our network are eligible to flag Access Programme cases
No means-testing paperwork is required from the patient — the clinician's assessment is sufficient
Clinicians wishing to be part of the referring network may contact us through the standard referral channel

"A tissue diagnosis is not a luxury. It is the difference between knowing and not knowing. We believe that difference should never come down to what a patient can afford."
